Scripture Focus:
Acts 5:41: “So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.” (NASB)
When the world feels unstable and news is overwhelmingly sad, it’s natural to feel heavy. It’s tempting to pull back, lower our voice, and retreat into a quiet faith until things “settle down.” But for the follower of Jesus, this global unrest is not a reason to hide; it is an invitation to join God in what He is doing.
Right now, in the middle of all the heaviness, something incredible is happening: people are deeply hungry for answers. When human leaders, plans, and sources of comfort fail, people start actively looking for something deeper and something real. This makes our current moment one of the most exciting times to be a Kingdom Laborer.
The early apostles understood this. They faced threats, jail time, and actual physical violence for their message. Moments after being severely beaten, they didn’t walk away in failure. Instead, they were found “rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name” (Acts 5:41).
Their joy wasn’t about the suffering; it was about knowing that they were facing the same kinds of suffering Jesus did. They saw the difficulty as proof that their light was being seen, and they kept moving. Their courage reminds us that we are called to step into the opportunity that every struggle creates.
Here is the reality: God is in the business of doing more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). He is preparing hearts all around you—in your workplace, your community, and among people who are desperate for real peace. We need to replace our caution with expectation.
A missionary I know once told a powerful story about visiting people in a difficult region. Every morning, their host would set out food for one more person than was in the missionary’s group. When asked about the extra plate, the host—who knew nothing about Jesus—explained it was for their guard who stood outside their tent every night with a large sword! The missionaries and the host soon realized that God had sent an angel to protect them. The host, and the other people in the desert soon became followers of Jesus because they realized that God had sent these missionaries with an important message for them.
That is just a taste of what we are invited into! God is advancing His Kingdom in amazing ways all over the world! We are seeing a movement, a hunger, and an openness to truth that is remarkable. Our job is not to shrink back, but to step forward and shine the light of Christ with expectant, courageous joy everywhere we go.
