“And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, ‘Stand up straight on your feet!' And he leaped and walked.” – Acts 14:8-10, NKJV
Paul and Barnabas were speaking boldly for the Lord, preaching the Gospel. Imagine, in the middle of his message, while preaching in Lystra, Paul notices a crippled man in the crowd. The Bible says, “Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, ‘Stand up straight on your feet'” (Acts 14:10)!
What an interruption! Paul was on a mission to preach. But in the midst of his assignment, he still maintained awareness of the people around him, observing intently. He was willing to see any ministry opportunity where the Lord wanted to work. We must also be careful to observe intently what the Lord wants to do. We should not be so focused on one assignment that we lose our larger perspective. God might want to do ministry and miracles we never dreamed of!
Let's stay alert and observant, observing intently for people and opportunities God wants to touch. Sometimes miracles come unexpectedly!
Who around you has faith that you can help speak life into today? Believe God with them for a miracle, ask the Lord in prayer, and observe intently what He is doing!
