How Secure Are You?

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” —Matthew 28:18

In the context of the great commission, even the disciples who had just encountered the risen Jesus “doubted” (Matthew 28:17). And Jesus’ response to them was not, “You’re right! Your doubts and struggles are too big for me. Make sure you figure them all out before I send you to go make disciples of all nations.” No, Jesus told them, “all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore…”

We do not “go make disciples” because we have the exact training, skills, spiritual pedigree, or some special ability to overcome our struggles. We go into all the earth and make disciples because Jesus, the one with all authority has already spoken, “Go!” His authority is not only big enough to overcome our internal battles and Satan’s advances, but more than enough to squelch any amount of resistance that people around us put forth—whether a neighbor, co-worker, family member, people group, or an entire nation’s restrictive government. God’s authority will provide us with everything we need, for every situation.

You do not have to be afraid. You can live securely while living radically. You can live a life marked by radical security.
