“Sell your possessions and give to those in need.” Luke 12:33a
My wife displays Jesus’ love and kindness in front of my eyes every day in an array of ways. Something she does from time to time is take a look in her closet and find those items that she has not used lately but that are still in good condition. She has blessed many women by giving away clothing. She is not in the business of storing more and more for herself but in the business of making others happy with what she has.
Luke 12:33 was practiced by the first church (see Acts 2:45), and generosity has been demonstrated by God´s people throughout redemption’s history (see Deuteronomy 15:4, Psalm 112:9). It is fitting for God´s people to be generous because our God is generous — providing “rain and good crops and [giving] food and joyful hearts.” (Acts 14:17). Look around you, is there someone you can bless today with what you have?
CHALLENGE:
Are there any items laying around your house that could be a blessing to somebody else?
