“The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. You will not despise a broken and humbled heart, God.” — Psalm 51:17
Do you remember those cool glow sticks that I’m sure you played with at some point as a kid? Kids and adults still enjoy them today! The glow stick when it’s purchased is just a plastic stick. There is nothing spectacular about a plastic stick, because when it is in that state, it is not doing what it is created to do.
It’s only when you break the stick, and that sound is so satisfying to me for some reason, that it begins to shine or glow as it was created to do. Our spiritual life works the same way. Once we see our sin as God sees it, we become broken. We understand we have broken God’s moral law and by God’s grace we come to a place of repentance.
This brokenness will lead us to what we were created to do and that is to have full communion with God and shine the light of Christ brightly! We can’t do this when we think we have no sin. We must come humbly before the Lord in humility so He can continue the work He has called us to.
CHALLENGE:
Is there anything you need to repent of this week? Come humbly before the Lord and do that. He will receive you with the open arms of forgiveness!
