Are You Hungry?

As soon as it was night, the brothers and sisters sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. Upon arrival, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. The people here were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, since they received the Word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Consequently, many of them believed, including a number of the prominent Greek women as well as men.” – Acts 17:10-12, CSB

I hunger for God’s Word! I try to stay in a posture ready to receive it with an eager heart. There is always something to learn, and it always increases my faith!

As followers of Christ we must stay hungry. I had the honor of participating in the Asbury Revival in February 2023 and was in awe of the atmosphere of hunger. I say participating rather than attending because it was an engagement and experience with God. People were famished—eagerly desiring more of God, His presence, and His Word.

Worship echoed throughout Hughes Auditorium, seats became altars, tears flowed like rain, opened Bibles rested in opened hands, and opened hands were keys unlocking hearts. The awareness of His holiness left me saying, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” one moment and speechless the next—feeling unworthy to even say the name of Jesus.

Perhaps the Asbury Revival was like what happened when Paul and Silas taught in the synagogue in Berea where people were hungry to receive with eagerness. This must have looked like revival as Acts 17:12 says, “many of them believed!

Challenge:

Maintaining a hungry heart, ready to receive, leads us further into God’s truth and revelation. Are you eager to receive the Word of God? Do you examine the Scriptures daily? Make today the day you hit reset on your spiritual hunger!
